For the second consecutive year, oils from Agricola La Maja have been awarded at Los Angeles International Competition, however this year they have been awarded with the highest award: The Gold Medal.
Furthermore, in this event La Maja was awarded also with on of the “the best packaging design”, recognized for its modern bottle design.
This exclusive package is covered in black with a special treatment to keep UV rays from damaging its precious contents.
Once coated, it is painted in three different phases (one per colour), and is sold in an individual casing specially designed to prevent accidents.
Every care is taken in order to guarantee the quality of this extra virgin olive oil that contains an excellent “coupage” made from Arbequina, Empeltre and Arróniz varieties.
The combination of these varieties makes is an elaborated process that makes this oil more complex in its aromas and taste.
It has a yellowish-green colour, with an intense aroma which is reminding one of fresh green fruits. Tones of tomato plant, grass, apple and kiwi can be appreciated; its aromas are re-affirmed in the mouth, combined with a slight bitterness and a late “bite”.
The harvesting method used in the production of this oil is fully mechanised and the olives go directly from the tree to the oil mill, without ever touching the ground, without any knocks or alterations and with the right level of ripeness in accordance with the oil to be obtained.
We select the groves by ripeness and variety and the fruit is harvested directly from the tree. From this moment until the fruit is pressed, it can spoil, which is why it is so important to extract the oil as soon as possible if quality oil is to be produced.
No more than 12 hours go by at La Maja between harvesting the olives and pressing them.
Los Angeles International Competition is becoming more important every year. In the latest edition (the eleventh), more than a thousand different oils, from around the world, were tasted.
Among the few Spanish oils awarded, two come from the Navarra Oil P.D.O. (Protected Designation of Origin): Agricola La Maja. .
Because of the careful work and dedication that the artisans of Agrícola La Maja oil carry out from the actual planting of olive groves to subsequent fruit collection, throughout the entire oil production process and during storage and packaging, enables the company to obtain oil of exceptional quality recognized internationally

RECIPES: Bread, oil and salt
· Fresh bread or toast
· 5-10 grams of extra virgin olive oil
· A pinch of sea salt
Once prepared, spread the oil over the bread and add salt
Eat it as soon as possible!
